Drywall Installation & Ceiling Repair in Dover, NH

Dover is largely single-family, and the two things that drive drywall work here are added space and water. Houses with full basements and attached garages get finished into living space, and older roofs let go in ice dam season, which brings down or stains ceilings. Both are drywall jobs from framing to primer.

Finishing new space in an existing house is not the same as boarding a new build. The framing is rarely dead flat, so before a sheet goes up we check the plane and shim or fur where it is needed, because a ceiling that reads wavy under a light was decided at framing, not at finishing. Basements add a moisture question: we want to see how the slab and walls behave, whether there is a working dehumidifier, and whether furring and a break between concrete and board are needed before anything is fastened.

Cathedral and vaulted ceilings are common in the Seacoast additions we work on, and they are the ones people notice. Long unbroken planes catch raking light from windows and skylights, so those go to a level 5 skim rather than a standard three-coat finish — the whole surface skimmed, then sanded and primed. The other half of Dover work is repair after a leak. Ice damming on Seacoast roofs pushes water back under shingles and it lands on a ceiling, sometimes far from where it got in. We open up enough of the ceiling to see the framing and insulation, confirm the roof has actually been fixed, let it dry, replace wet insulation, then reboard and finish. We do not close a ceiling over damp framing, and we do not do the roof repair ourselves.
